Meet Martha, or "Martita" as she is lovingly referred to by all of us here at Montebello. Martha is the ten year old sister of Ines, Mauricio and Isabel, a family that
arrived here at Montebello in November of 2001. I always say that if Martha could climb inside your skin in order to get closer to you, she would do it! Two summers
ago, Martha underwent open heart surgery. After a bout with the flu the winter she arrived, it was discovered that Martita suffered from a congenital heart defect.
God provided the funding for the surgery which was performed by an excellent surgeon here in Quito. Today, the only evidence of Martha's condition is the zipper like
scar that runs down her chest. What a blessed demonstration of God's love for one of the "least of these".
